The end of August traditionally brings a quieter period for our best players. Ahead of the Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, from 15 to 27 September, most of the national team players are finishing their preparation and timing their form, so there were fewer classical tournaments over the past two weeks. Even so, a few domestic results deserve attention.
Ivan Ivanisevic won the rapid tournament "LjKI Chess Open 26", held as part of the Ljubicevo Equestrian Games. With 7.5 points from 9 games he finished half a point ahead of Bryakin and once again confirmed his good form ahead of national-team duty in Samarkand.
Bojan Maksimovic took the Serbian title at the 20th Serbian Championship in Senta. He finished the tournament on 6.5/9, half a point ahead of the young Stefan Tadic, and deservedly became national champion.
Teodora Injac, European champion in 2025, will lead Serbia's women's team on board one in Samarkand. Although this season has so far brought her a quieter competitive rhythm, her class and experience will be one of our team's key assets at the Olympiad.
